Symbolic Totem Art Workshop

On our last day together we will create pieces of art infused with symbolic reminders of our God-given inner strengths. Using animals as our inspirations, we will form our pieces with the awareness of what we would like to take with us from Soulight, to motivate and encourage us in the days following the retreat. We will use the simplicity of animal silhouettes with mixed media backgrounds to create a totem of remembrance and inspiration.

Take time to connect with the soil under your feet and what can come from it. Understand the potential we have to shape and design portions of our own lives, and be reminded of letting go of what we cannot control.

Yoga Nidra

with Mountain Base Yoga

In Yoga Nidra, students lie comfortably on the floor and are guided through placing awareness on different focal points: parts of the body, the movement of breath, and the contents of the imagination. The result is a restful meditation in which one approaches a state similar to sleep while retaining a sense of wakeful awareness.

Light expands to the space it is allotted. A significant portion of Saturday is dedicated to you finding space to be outside and basking in the light and processing all of the experiences you have had so far.  With options such as hiking, walking, or volunteering at Chanticleer Gardens, we know you will be refreshed and ready for the rest of the afternoon's activities.

Movement and Balance Art Workshop

Art can be a way to release what you cannot express in words. Throughout your time at Soulight, Michelle Dyson will provide a safe and nurturing environment where you can engage your creativity through art. Based in her uplifting studio, students will be encouraged to start with movement art practices to loosen perceptions and to free up inspiration. This exercise will help step each one into a place of balance and symmetry and to begin creating from a place of rest.

Restorative Yoga

A beautiful practice for those in a place of healing, this yoga class helps to restore balance in mind and body through postures practiced on props to provide effortless yoga. Sarah Elechko, owner of Mountain Base Yoga, will lead each yoga class and ensure that each one is comfortable, informed, and walks away refreshed.

Create Your Own Journal

Create Your Own Journal

The Soulight journey will be recorded in our own custom made journal. Using handcrafted papers, smooth rag bookmaking paper, floss, ribbons, stamps, gelli printing, embossing, and an assortment of mixed media choices, each one will create their own book to fill with thoughts, inspiration, and art. Led by local artist and instructor, Michelle Dyson, we will begin to practice the joy of creating.

Welcome

We will begin our Soulight 2016 weekend together with a time of community and inspiration. After a detailed introduction to your weekend, we will be inspired by a local speaker, followed by a movement workshop.  Dance and movement bring air to our lungs and laughter to our souls. This weekend is about shaking off imobilizing fears and welcoming new experiences that revitalize us and help us to reconnect with a place of rest and joy.
